18-year-old Italian producer Kelbin creates music as expansive as their fractal-filled vision. Taking influence from artists like Floating Points, Four Tet and Amon Tobin, Kelbin infuses introspective and texture-filled soundscapes with sharp, percussive rhythms and groovy basslines. Since Tabula Rasa label-head RamonPang discovered their modular-emulation music through Twitter, Kelbin has been on a tear of releases, debuting with their “.ARP” EP.

“EFYL” is a sonic universe in itself - its tracks seemingly written as separate energy-filled entities that morph and harmonically progress at their own pace. “3032” and “Aero.Blur” are festival-ready highlights - exploding with the loudness and abrasiveness of bass music, underpinned with Kelbin’s signature modular sleekness. Meanwhile, the extreme drones and synths of “Xplorer (with ROBY)”, “Sky Drive” and “One, No One and One Hundred Thousand (with dearest alyx)” create shimmering walls of noise and contrasting moments of deep thought.

“EFYL is the opposite of a concept album as people usually think - instead of building all the tracks around the same story/concept, I kinda let each track tell its own story. That’s why there’s like a future garage track, then bass music, then ambient, then future garage again.

The concept isn’t in the album itself; everyone will develop their thoughts on the album in their own way and each story will be different for each person. That’s also why the title ‘EFYL’ doesn’t mean anything, I think people could have fun figuring out what the acronym means and everyone will come up with their own answer.”

Kelbin is modular music in its most sincere form. An electronic musician, producer and artist based in Italy, Kelbin first started dabbling in music in 2015 in their bedroom. They’ve since developed an enveloping organic sound, which stems from pushing modular synth emulation and MIDI programming to its limits. Kelbin’s fractal-filled vision for music also extends to their artwork, designing all the cover art for their own releases. Their debut album “EFYL” is a bubbling pool of dance music’s most introspective melodies, paired with sound design as detailed and sharp as the universe’s strangest particles. "EFYL" is the opposite of a concept album - an exploration of modular synthesis, allowing each track to mold, breathe and float its way through mechanical motions, guided by emotive ears. The title "EFYL" has no definition - it is as abstract and open to interpretation as the strange, generative melodies showcased on it.
